This is an item I got 20 or so years ago from a lady at the Kewa Truckstop, for not a huge sum :). It is on wire. I love the colors and its rough vibe, it was one of my favs. Long story, but it was mislaid and a replacement is being sought for me.
So to make sure I have a good idea of what it is and isn’t, I would love any input on materials, etc so I can evaluate suggested replacements. First choice would be it rematerializes
I’m not completely sure what you’re asking, but it does definitely look like turquoise. Are you wondering what the other heishi is? I think traditional would be Olive shell. Good heishi should feel smooth like snakeskin, but I have also been told that having some of the little chips can show that it is made of actual real materials as versus block.
Thanks, sorry to be vague! I need whatever replacement I’m offered to be comparable or better. Since i don’t have hands on it anymore, I was just curious what impressions others might have about the materials, quality, etc. It definitely isn’t high-end, but seems to me to be turquoise, natural? Not sure.
Got it. I definitely feel it’s turquoise, not sure on the shell exactly, because I’m not very knowledgeable on that. I don’t know if it’s natural turquoise either, although my understanding is natural turquoise is really hard to cut into heishi, and would make it pretty pricey.
Again, I might be wrong here, but your turquoise looks handmade to me due to the different widths of the beads.
