I’ll bite. Here ya go!
Wow @Ziacat thats beautiful, I’ll have to research the artist for other pieces but is that what is called “Santo Domingo” jewelry??
Thank you for sharing!!
I love inlaid jewelry
@Blackturtlehawk yes, Kewa and Santo Domingo are different names for the same pueblo. Santo Domingo is the name Spanish colonists gave the pueblo, and Kewa is the name for it in their own Keresan language, or at least an anglicized version of their word for themselves. Kewa pueblo is recognized for their stone and shell work, including a type of inlay called mosaic inlay. Mary Tafoya is a well known artist with her own distinctive form of mosaic inlay.
Thank you! And yes, Santo Domingo Pueblo. Kewa is the indigenous name.
Check out Mary Tafoya’s work. She does her inlay all by hand. Funny thing, almost every time I wear the bird pendant, somebody asks me if I made it. https://youtu.be/41Uy04Av1N8
I tried to copy a link to a video of an interview with she and her husband. Not sure it worked.
Darn that didn’t work. I’m good with some technical stuff but not all.
@OrbitOrange explained that better than I did. I was fussing with trying to make the link work and didn’t read what she said.
@Blackturtlehawk. Your cuff is gorgeous; glad you are keeping it,
We’ll, I just realized I don’t have much inlay. So far this is what I’ve found…
Inlay ring by Victor Gabriel:
Beautiful pieces! I especially love the top ring.
This is making fun reading on the commercials between the ladies figure skating
@TaraFawn75 looks like you need some belts for those sets!
Beautiful pieces, folks.
Mary Lovato hand pendant, this one done in brass (unusual for her). Kewa
Vacit family Hopi bird bolo. Zuni
Zuni sunface rings. Left to right: Morris and Sadie Laahte, unknown, and Marie Qualo.
Zuni inlay bracelet with sunface Kachina. Artist unknown, although I do have some ideas:
Contemporary Zuni coyote pin/pendant by Andrea Lonjose Shirley.
I only have one inlay pendant that I recently bought at a local estate sale. I’ve been scared to buy one online because of the imports. Being able to see this in person and recognize the hallmark made all the difference in the world. This is by Frank Yellowhorse.
Gorgeous, gorgeous!! Love it all!!
Frank Yellowhorse earrings on top. Not sure about the others. I think I have posted these before, but it’s the only inlay I have.
This is a great thread. Love all the colorful pieces. I have a few that I posted way back but will add them here too
Inlay cuff by Mary Morgan, Corn row cuff by Carlos Eagle and another by an unknown artist
OO just gotta say this sweet lil coyote is incredible.
Love love love! your cuffs.
