And there is so much more these young people are creating to remain in the Arts & Crafts Fields. So cool!

Those are amazing!! Love the dragonfly, but they might not let someone board an airplane with that on

I can appreciate that it’s interesting and very creative for sure but reminds me more of a fractal or something alien generated. Guess I lean more toward traditional pieces.

Ohhhhh…now I can’t unsee the alien…

Curtis Pete is one of my absolute favorite current artists. I have two pieces by him, and hope to collect more. I posted about my ring by him and meeting him at Indian Market in this thread:

(sorry its a long thread–post 89.)

So funny that you mentioned boarding an airplane @Ziacat because if you scroll down to post 93 TSA did actually say something about it! (I was still allowed to board the airplane luckily).

I remember that ring, @OrbitOrange! It didn’t put it together that this was the same artist. So I assumed when you posted your ring he’s Navajo, but he goes by HopiPete in the Instagram. So now I see from your old post that he’s both

I remembered your ring, because I I think I would like to buy something by him someday. Your ring is fabulous.

That’s so funny about the airplane. It was actually my husband that said it about the dragonfly ring; I stole his joke

Same here. I also see a lot of great stuff on the net. My favorite artist atm is cheyenne grabiec. He does really beautiful beadwork with the finest materials. Some of his friends are great artists too.

@Bluegreen Saw his work in person recently, very impressive. I really liked his jet heishi, very handsome and different, but unfortunately not a colorway I can pull off. Now, the turquoise strands… :star_struck: Says a lot that he’s been picked up by Shiprock and Case Trading Post (Wheelwright).

@chicfarmer that’s pretty cool that you got to see his work in person. I saw him mention that he was doing the rounds at the markets. And i agree about his turquoise strands, if $ weren’t a thing i’d buy that natural Sleeping Beauty one in a heartbeat <3
Good to read that his work is being picked up too. Hope him and his buddies will be doing well

@chicfarmer and @Bluegreen, I’ve seen some of his work online, and it’s beautiful. I don’t think he’s been to the Eiteljorg Indian Art market, but you never know, maybe this year

So the phrase “I love the new work of this generation” made me think of something I saw on one of the Facebook sites that I can look at without being a member. Someone posted a beautiful Tommy Singer cuff. Here was a comment about it…

Cause even though he has sadly passed, he’s part of the “new generation?”

@Ziacat yes indeed, very beautiful work! And it would be nice if he’d make it to that market and you could visit him.

Bit of a strange comment on facebook, i agree. Written too hastily perhaps.
I’m contemplating to go back on fb by the way. I deleted my account a couple of years ago and don’t miss it at all, but it seems that there are nice turquoise (and metal detecting) hubs over there nowadays

I am not on Facebook, but my husband joined when my brother was ill just to follow him, but now never uses it. I use his account occasionally to check in on a few sites. I imagine you could find a group on almost any topic!
