A relative of mine traveled extensively in the US west and bought this lovely brooch for his mother many years ago. The relatives are gone and I have the pin now, but would love to know where it was made, who made it (JP on back) and what the butterfly design and turquoise stone represents. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Very pretty pin! I could not find the hallmark, but there are some great books on Native American jewelry hallmarks so maybe it will be found eventually. I don’t believe the butterfly and turquoise have any particular meaning, other than turquoise is very important to Native peoples.
