I remember those from the 70’s, they were referred to as slave bracelets I believe. It’s a beautiful stone or is it shell? Very cool!

The stone looks like abalone to me, and pretty good quality. I’ve seen some that isn’t near as vividly colored.
I asked on my Facebook and most came back with abalone.
Paua shell… (… which is abalone). People tend to use the Maori name for the darker versions of the shell, for marketing purposes.
