Identifying Maker’s Mark on Turquoise Hoop Earrings

Hi everyone! I’m hoping someone might recognize the hallmark on these sterling silver and turquoise hoop dangles.

They feature three turquoise cabochons set in a cluster style with silver bead accents. On the back, they’re stamped with a “C” over “STERLING”, along with another worn symbol mark right beside it (it looks like a vertical bar with a triangle/hourglass, or possibly a partial number stamp, but it’s tough to make out clearly).

I’ve had these in my jewelry box for over 20 years, likely originating from New Mexico or Colorado. In my research, I’ve seen similar “C” stamps attributed to Navajo silversmiths like Chester Charley or Jerry Cowboy, but I’d love to avoid misattributing them if that’s incorrect.

Nice earrings. Well-made, turquoise looks natural, and the earrings are made by hand. That’s what I’d focus on here.

As far as attribution is concerned, what you have is a single block letter stamp and a sterling quality mark. In the most direct terms, without a paper trail there’s really nothing to go on here.

If you plan on selling these go with what you know, southwestern style, handmade, natural turquoise, great quality.

Same principles apply if you just plan on keeping these. Hope this helps.
