Ira Custer Corn Squash

I have been wanting to share this for a couple of weeks but wanted to be sure of what I had purchased. I have yet to see it in person as it was delivered while I am traveling. Hubby took delivery and shot some quick photos this morning. He felt like I would be very pleased with the purchase.
Before I made the commitment, I verified authenticity with Cheyenne via online pics. She said it is entirely handmade by her dad and thought it was early 90s with Sleeping Beauty turquoise. The pics didn’t look like sky blue SB in color but kind of did with lack of or very little matrix, if that makes sense. Does anyone have or experienced natural SB changing color?

What an amazing piece of work! You are so lucky.

While it doesn’t look like typical SB, neither does the necklace that I just bought, and that artist also said it was Sleeping Beauty. We have certainly learned that turquoise can fool us! And yes, it can definitely change color (I have a cuff with SB that is changing slowly). The only way something natural wouldn’t be as likely to change color is if it was high gem grade.

Did she mention if it was tufacast? I know that’s what a lot of his work was in. From the pictures it doesn’t look so, it looks so smooth, but sometimes the artists smooth it out.

I will have to ask Cheyenne. She is so prompt with replies. That is a question I should have asked.

@Ziacat Cheyenne confirmed as sandcast.

Thank you @Phoenix7 I am thrilled with finding it.

Have you posted this necklace? I feel like you have but I cannot seem to find it.

Yes, it’s the necklace from the Eiteljorg market that I just posted in the heishi thread. But it’s a cuff that I’ve noticed the color changing.

I would call the turquoise teal colored in Ira Custer’s squash.

Below are photos of it and a shadow box that looks like SB, no provenance.
