Question on validity; if known by my dear Forum friends… I Picked this up online, it was relatively inexpensive and would like to know if this could be his work? I pause at the top being non rounded and different/flat like… any thoughts appreciated!

Have you seen others with “flat” tops? I’m used to pieces that are more molded in
shape.
It would be the best guess, the N and the what is suppose to be a fox. Nice piece.
