Is this a genuine/real piece?

hi! new here and so happy to have found this forum.
I was told this is genuine but idk what type of turquoise/if turquoise. A friend told me it is an obvious fake, but I don’t know. Please help! I will be uploading other pieces that I am questioning now, thanks!

I’m not finding that signature or name in Hougart’s 5th edition

this image comes up in a search for “bob becenti” navajo jewelry and was the only signature that matched found so far

Welcome @Nell. There is a very similar Bob Becenti squash that just sold, March 31, on Billy the Kid auction house website. It was listed as Kingman turquoise.

Interesting, because something about this turquoise doesn’t look quite right. I was wondering if it could be block. But maybe it’s just stabilized. And the beads look… different.

I saw some of his pieces with a BB hallmark. Just the above one with the full name.
The turquoise looks like block to me, too.

Real in what sense, Nell? It appears the necklace is assembled from white metal cast pieces set with an unknown turquoise colored material. Beads appear to be machine made.
