I've been searching all day. Fox mine?

Happy Sunday, all!
I was reorganizing my cuffs and this one is one that I hadn’t worn in a couple of years, and I started examining the pretty stone. I haven’t come across any turquoise like this since I bought it, and was wondering if the stone is what the seller told me it was.
I’ve had this cuff for 20+ years. It was sold to me as Fox Mine turquoise. No signature on the back but, it’s stamped sterling.
Does anyone know, or care to guess at what it is?
I’ve spent the better part of the day searching on line but, nothing exact came up.

Thanks in advance

@Phoenix7 That’s a gorgeous piece of turquoise. In my opinion, I’m inclined to say this looks more like Tyrone turquoise than Fox turquoise. I’ve seen Tyrone with that yellow/goldish color running through it. (Of course, it could be Fox turquoise…)

Oh! Let me go look that one up. The lesser known mines always interest me!
Thanks @Patina
Yeah, It really could be Fox but, I’m not 100%.
I appreciate it!

@Phoenix7 I have several rings with Tyrone turquoise - tried photographing 2 - but, the colors don’t show true in the photos so I’m not sure that’d be helpful to you. Tyrone turquoise is one of my favorites.

Yes but, please share! I can download them and play and adjust the color on my end. It might help :slightly_smiling_face:
Edit
I’m looking it up now, and it does indeed resemble my stone! Could be!

I have one tiny piece of Tyrone, for comparison-

Gorgeous piece! I love that silver work style! Is it that blue in person or is it more blue in the photo?
Mine is sort of more of a green teal as opposed to a more blue teal.
Thanks for sharing that :slightly_smiling_face:

It is pretty much blue, I’ve attached a couple more pix. Love the piece, it’s by Tsosie White

Ooooh, it’s really gorgeous! I’m going to look up their work.

The stone has similar characteristics. It’s just very tricky to ID a stone, isn’t it!? At least for novices. They come from different parts of the mine in different colors, some with varying matrix’s throughout.
Tricky, tricky

There is a testing lab finally! I knew this had been in the works but didn’t know that it was actually available until very recently. I have a triple strand heishi necklace with jocklas that I thought had a lot of Bisbee in it. A knowledgeable friend who congratulated me on beating her to it said the same thing. I contacted the lab and talked to a very nice man for a long time. He explained things and I packed up the necklace and sent it. He said that he would look the necklace over and since it was heishi rather than a single piece of turquoise, he would pick a diverse selection of several pieces and test them. He called yesterday afternoon to tell me that the testing was complete and that the entire necklace is Bisbee. He sounded as excited as me. The turquoise is stabilized so there is no grade but considering the size of the necklace he was saying an approximate value of $4000. It weighs over 500 grams-534 I think. He also emailed me the 25 page report with the scientific details. It details all the chemical makeup and each one was slightly different. It also lists the hardness of each one. If the stone is natural there is also a grade ranging from gem grade on down. That’s going to require some studying and possibly question asking. It’s going to be mailed home today. I will definitely use them again! The cost of testing a single stone is $65 and it tells you all about the mineral composition and ultimately narrows it down to the most likely mine. I’m adding the information in case anyone is interested.
West Texas Analytical Laboratory in Pampa, TX
P.S. Mike Ryan the coauthor of “Turquoise in American” very recently wrote a blog about this so you can read more there.
I am already lining up a couple more in my head. :joy:

Oh my gosh, your necklace!! Wow, nice find!
That was a definite worthy endeavor to send it to the lab.
I’m happy to hear about this lab, it’s an excellent idea.
Thanks so much for the info. I’m going to go and check out that blog.
Thanks so much :slightly_smiling_face:
