Kenneth Begay belt buckle, worth the price?

I’m thinking of buying this Kenneth Begay belt buckle. Seller wants 900. Is it worth it considering it’s Kenneth Begay?

Pretty cool that it opens up. I’ve never seen that in a buckle.

The answer depends on whether you are buying it because you love the piece or you’re buying it for the name (which might mean it’s more of an investment purchase). My rule of thumb is if I love it, how many more opportunities will I have to buy just such a piece? If I’m building a collection of an artist I still try to look at each piece individually and only collect the artist’s work that I love so I’m not saddled with pieces I don’t really love and will end up wanting/needing to sell (so I can buy more work I truly love). I hate overpaying but a wise man told me long ago, even if you have overpaid, you have it. If I had to overpay for something, it’d be a KB piece—he’s not making any more! Just my two cents.

Just an observation -The hallmarks don’t look quite right compared to others I’ve seen? Wondering if this is a china piece mainly because the setting looks very close to the old glass used in that part of the world? I may be way off base?

If you let me know where it is for sale I will buy it.

It was on eBay Jason. Unfortunately I didn’t pull the trigger fast enough and it sold.

Well I found and bought another Kenneth Begay piece, it’s a hair pin but I could use it as a money clip. Jason, does this look legit to you? I compared it with others and it looked good.

Thanks Jason, I’ve been kicking myself for not getting that KB belt buckle but liked this too.
