Large 3 Knifewing Necklace by Arnold Cellicion

Edit: This has been confirmed to be by Arnold Cellicion through the “Historic Zuni Jewelry” Facebook page. Many works by Arnold Cellicion are mis-attributed.

This is the third piece of the three that I bought recently from a coin dealer. I am looking for confirmation that this is the work of Teddy Weahkee. It was not sold as such and I almost didn’t buy it due to some slight damage on it. However, now that I have it and have been able to compare it to others it’s showing a strong resemblance to Teddy Weahkee’s work or at least to work that’s been attributed to him. There seems to be a hallmark but I’ve never seen it and don’t find it in any of the books I have. It looks to me like it could even be a coiled snake. The abrasions to the patina over the hallmark are from me rubbing my thumb over it…oops!

Some examples I’ve found, There always seems to be a strip in the foot.

They also all have the same chest design, as well as other design elements throughout. A very interesting and beautiful piece.

I like how the two upper knifewings set straight and level.
