Late 1800's Locket

My Great Great Aunts locket. A photo of her husband who was killed in a sawmill accident when he was 34 years old in 1892. They had no children. He died 8 years after they were married.
My Mom said Aunt Nellie always wore the locket as a necklace or used it as a watch fob.

The locket is designed for two photos, one on each side. One side has some decorative etching on it.
There are no marks that I could find on it.

The wear on the locket bail suggests a softer metal (karat gold) vs the jump ring which is not gold. Look closely on the inside of the worn area, if karat gold you should not see a color difference.

What an arrestingly handsome young man! Sad about his fate. Thanks for sharing!

I have several photos of him, including his wedding photos.
His brother-in-laws were equally handsome.
