Latest addition cuff

I just got this cuff, seller believes the stone is Red Mountain turquoise and also believes it is from late 50’s early 60’s, would you agree? Also, what price range do you think it would be in? The cuff weighs 103 Grams and measures just over 1 3/4" tall. The inner circumference measures 5 1/2" plus another 1 1/2" for the opening. There is no hallmark and it does test as sterling.

I really like the stone. I think it’s a little more modern than what you were told. It’s probably from the 70’s or 80’s most likely. The turquoise could possibly be Red Mountain. I am not familiar enough with that mine to give you a definitive answer. If I had to guess I would say it is probably another mine. Anyways, I am placing a lot of the value on that stone, and would have around $185-$200 on this piece in my store.

A great looking cuff, joebig. I don’t know enough yet to comment on the stone though.

The shadowbox outline reminds me of a big “POW” balloon caption from a comic book…kinda Super Hero-ish. I like it, It’s different.

Thanks AC,

I never thought of it like that but you’re right it does look like that!!!

Joe, I agree, the shadowbox outline around the stone really makes the whole bracelet “Pop”! I like it!

This is a beautiful bracelet and I have always loved this style. It got me thinking about how old of a piece I had seen done in shadowbox.

I went looking through books and didn’t find anything that was a certain 1950s. I wonder when this style began. I have from a source that Mary Morgan was making this style in the 1960s. Not sure who the artist would be for this piece, the 1960s - 70s date would make sense with no hallmark.

Red Mountain Turquoise is known for its rich blue and heavy spider web matrix, think Lander Blue. Like other stones I am sure it has a wide range of looks. If this is Red Mountain it is not what collectors are looking for. If I didn’t know where the stone was from I wouldn’t have guessed Red Mountain.

I go a little higher, $250 - $300.

Another example of Red Mountain, which I wouldn’t have believed it was either (not properly lit though).

This is the cuff that I have that was sold as Red Mountain turquoise.
