Left footed bear track squash blossom

Could someone please help identify the maker of this squash blossom necklace that I got for my birthday? It is marked A L on the back of the naja. I have found several artists that use those initials but I don’t know their work so can’t be sure. Would also be interested in a value if anyone could help. It weighs 161 grams. Thanks in advance.

@mmrogers i am hoping you can give me a little insight on this lost wax bear track necklace. I’ve never been able to find another. I think it’s NA but have not been able to confirm that either. I know lost wax is not the most common type of production in NA but I do know that it is used by some. May I please have an opinion? And some idea of age if you are able to provide it. I really appreciate your input!

Hi @Islandmomma. It’s been around a while. Age could be anywhere from 70s -80s to early 2000s. It looks like it’s been plated at some point, so I’d definitely have the underlying metal checked for silver content. As always, this is just my opinion. YMMV.

Thank you. I’ll try to get it done professionally soon. I have tested multiple times and it comes back sterling. However, if I drop acid on a spot that I haven’t scraped it clouds which makes me think coated too. Have a great weekend.

Plating can involve two layers. Usually rhodium or nickel over copper. You’ll need to get through both to see what’s under it.

I stopped by the local pawn shop. The girl who helped me tested it—sterling. She told me it was that tarnished. She put one side of the back of the Naja on her wheel and boy was there a difference!
