Lost Earring (not sure which category)

Hi all. I had this pair of feather earrings that were one of my go-to pairs, but lost one recently on a night out :disappointed: I’ll check one location, but I did a lot of walking, could’ve fallen anywhere.

Lesson learned: put backers on the French wires!!

My question to you guys is do you think the artist would make a replacement? Or do I just buy another pair, or just have one long feather? I’m not big on wearing mismatched earrings. They were hallmarked, but I don’t have a photo of it at the moment. Photo of the remaining feather :joy:

Well that’s a bummer! If you know who the artist is then maybe your best bet is contacting them. Even if they can’t make one, maybe they would have another pair.

I wear a lot of mismatched earrings, but only little studs. I used to wear one dangly one, but don’t really do that anymore. Although I still think it looks cool! And I’m like you. I’ve learned the hard way to always put a back on a wire.

As they say - if you don’t ask the answer’s always no.

Worth a shot to contact the artist.

Ok, so I’m finally home and have the earring in hand. It’s a Raymond Coriz piece, from Santo Domingo Pueblo.

I have searched online and social media for an account or a way to contact him, but to no avail to far. Am I missing something?

Pueblodirect dot com has a pendant that is nearly identical (and mirrored) to my lone earring, perhaps I should just buy it and have a French wire attached :joy::woman_facepalming:t3:

If you can’t find him, there’s an Navajo artist by the name of Harvey Mace who specializes in making feather jewelry. You might check with him to see if he could make something similar. I think buying the pendant, if it’s similar in size, sounds like a good idea.

Good call. Both pieces are lost wax cast, and most likely from a single set of mirrored masters, molded from a single set of matched earrings.

@Ziacat thank you, I’ll keep him as a last resort.

@mmrogers, thank you for that information. The pendant might just be my answer.

@Steve, thank you, but I had a special affinity for this pair. They will be difficult to replace with other feathers.

That is a fine looking feather…great work! I also like Michael Kirk feathers…different style though.

I finally got around to ordering the single feather pendant to replace the lost earring.

@mmrogers or @Stracci (or whomever else might know), is it possible to change the bail on the pendant to be smaller like the one on the earring? Could a good silversmith change it or do I need to give up on this earring?

Thank you!! (Please ignore my tarnished earring, it’s been ignored as of late)

Absolutely, @BlytheEcho. This is an easy repair. Lop off the huge loop, solder on a smaller matching loop, and Bob’s your uncle!

@mmrogers THANK YOU!!! I have looked at my lone feather so many times wishing it had its mate….now I can wear them again. Thank you for confirming it can be adjusted!! :pray:t2:
