Mary Marie Bolo

Hi all, I hope everyone is doing well. I haven’t posted in a bit. It was a pretty rough road with my first grandchild’s birth but he is doing so amazing now. You’d never know his rough start by looking at him

I am not sure why but bolos have been my thing lately. So I wanted to share one of my faves. It’s a very simple shadow box by Mary Marie. I got her for $150. As soon as I saw her up close I knew who made her. I have to tidy up the shadow box area a bit but the turquoise is really what drew me to it and I adore the fluted ends. Just wanted to share. Have a blessed day all

@CyanideRose18 Hi ~ Glad to hear that your newborn grandson is doing amazing. Yay, bolo ties! That’s a classic bolo with a gorgeous turquoise cab - it would’ve gotten my attention, too. Mary Marie is a new-to-me silversmith - will be doing some research:slightly_smiling_face:. Those are some of the nicest tips that I’ve seen. Congrats, you did well.

That is a beautiful bolo with a gorgeous stone. Congrats! It looks like it would be fun to wear, and will look great with about anything.

I believe that is actually Mary Marie Yazzie (also known as Mary Marie Yazzie Lincoln). I have one of her cluster rings that I bought over 20 years ago at the Department of the Interior in DC. You definitely did well since I paid over $100 for the ring that long ago.

Congrats on a new grandbaby!!

Hi @Patina  Thanks so much. I found a ring from her at the same place I got the bolo and I just love how simple the design is. I was new to her too but the ring was so well made, I had to buy it. Thanks so much again.

Hey @Ziacat  Thank so much! You are absolutely right. I forgot her last name was Yazzie. I’ll have to look for your ring if you posted it. Here is my ring from her. I’m grateful for two pieces I have but I’m definitely always looking :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: Thanks so much again. He is such a special lil guy

Wow! Coming from a bona fide ring person, your turquoise ring is a 10+. That’s some gorgeous turquoise set in a wonderful design. The ring looks terrific on you.

Thanks so much @Patina  You are so kind. That’s o’keffees  That stuff really works. My hands are so dry from hand sanitizer and this bitter cold.

I remember that ring, gorgeous! Now you have a set

I just saw an ad for that hand cream tonight, and I was thinking I should give it a try (mostly I just use aquaphor). My finger tips are cracked from the cold which I can’t get away from even at work.

You should definitely try it. My son’s hands were really bad but this worked in about a week. You can’t even tell how bad they were

Just wanted add a thank so you much to @Ziacat

Here is another recommendation. The best hand cream on the market. It’s used extensively in nursing homes, assisted living, and hospitals. It saves our hands in the winter. Be sure to get the unscented.

@CyanideRose18 @StevesTrail Thank you for the hand lotion suggestions. Looks like I can get them both at Walmart :+1:. I usually use CeraVe but, that’s not helping at all with the unseasonably cold weather we’re experiencing.

We tried everything before. Our fingers would crack open and bleed. The Medline works miracles.

The Mary Marie ring is just gorgeous - lucky you! Your 2 pieces got me thinking about one of her rings I hadn’t looked at for a while. So, I pulled it out…you can certainly see the similarities and that she used beautiful turquoise. Both rings are a simple but a pleasingly timeless design.
Does anyone have any thoughts about the turquoise in my ring? I bought it from a jeweler I used when I lived in California; he was selling it for a friend. I’m kicking myself for not asking about the turquoise! It’s not really spiderweb, more a mottled black matrix. I’m thinking it’s not a US mine?

@Bmpdvm Another beautiful ring by Mary Marie! The simple, yet elegant, design on these rings is lovely. I’d agree with you on thinking not a US turquoise mine. Thanks for sharing!

That is gorgeous @Bmpdvm i love the rectangle shaped turquoise in a ring. Beautiful turquoise there. I am terrible and guessing turquoise. I was trying to figure out what turquoise was in my bolo. I think the turquoise in my ring is kingman.
