Mexico Earring

Yes…our gas is $3.17…almost double what it was pre Covid. Perhaps higher prices in Midwest due to refining issues.

When we were in Arizona was about the same as here, sometimes higher there depending on what part of the state. Fortunately my little 14-year-old Cruz still gets an overall average of 30 miles per gallon

Don’t come to California, gas prices are stupid high: over $6.00 in many areas. Totally ridiculous…Part go the reason we moved to Western NV. prices $1.00 or more below CA, and so much nicer in so many ways! I still need to go back off and on for business, but stay away as much as possible. Sad because it was such a great state years ago!

Everybody who feels their gas prices are way too high should check out other countries prices. Americans are very spoiled by low gas prices.

Telling me I’m spoiled doesn’t make me feel better. They generally don’t drive 30 min to work like a lot of us do.

Having lived overseas, I was considering making the same point. Germany for example has a population of over 80 million concentrated in a geographic area a bit larger than the state of New Mexico. Towns and villages are sometimes just walking or hiking distance from one another, and citizens drive a fraction of the miles per capita as US residents. Population centers are densely inhabited. Multi story flats and homes where each floor is a residence for a separate family is the norm, with work and shopping being much closer, so tossing out these numbers for comparison is largely irrelevant. A more reasonable yardstick would be fuel costs per person per capita per year, and historically many of the countries would be roughly equal to or less than the fuel costs per year for the average American.

Also, this is not the place for promoting a particular political or social agenda. Our members here come from a variety of backgrounds and points of view. The forum is about Turquoise, Jewelry, and Native American, and Southwestern US art and craft. Let’s stick with that.

I wasn’t the one who brought up the topic. I just responded to it with rationale and logic. Don’t shoot the messenger.:smirk:

I said Americans not you personally.

Thanks @mmRogers, you are entirely correct. This started with the cost of silver and morphed into everyone discussing the cost of gas in their area…nothing really wrong with that. Don’t know how that led to calling us spoiled🤔.

Picked up a nice pair of Spratling earrings today, but perhaps the Best buy was this antique pendant, 1950’s. :joy::rofl: Sometimes, things never change….and yes, I’m going to wear this!

I love them all!

And guess what… I was curious, did a Google search and discovered Shirley Temple owned a chamberpot-baby medallion just like yours.

You can see it on page 34 of an auction book on the “issu” site called "Love, Shirley Temple: Take Two - From Schoolgirl to Storybook" (more from her personal archives). It’s also labelled “A Theriault’s Auction Event”.

Here’s a close-up of the shot with the one that Shirley Temple owned.

The companion piece was inscribed with a 1947 date, so perhaps this comes from around that time too?

Thanks chamekke. You do Google search better than I. Nothing came up when I did it. I thinks it’s cute…and bi-partisan.
