We don’t have ravens here in Indiana, just crows. But there’s a lot in northern MI and Ontario, so whenever I hear them call, I think of being in the north woods. One time at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon we watched two ravens dive and turn and twist in synch on the thermals. They reminded me of fighter jets.
This is totally unrelated, but why, oh why does my voice texting capitalize the g in Grand but not the C in canyon
@Ziacat were there there feet grasped together or separate if the were held together you may have seen a rare eagle mating dance. I have only seen it once. Pretty incredible to see either way!
They were separated, but that would have been amazing!
Another cool thing we saw on the North Rim was a hawk (I couldn’t tell what kind of was, it was too far away), start from waaaaay above the rim, tuck his wings in and dive hundreds and hundreds of feet straight down; he would first give one of those piercing hawk calls. We watched him do this over and over.
If that is just silver and copper - the gaps will happen as the metal corrodes. James Binnion wrote a white paper about the galvanic corrosion that occurs with copper & silver mokume. If you like mokume, my friend Anne Wolfe (annevillestudio.com) does amazing work with the material - even makes her own billets.
I found it!
I walked into a local art gallery yesterday and saw a display with rings just like the one I have.
Upon closer inspection, there was the mark!
The maker’s name is there in the photo.
I could find very little about him online.
@chicfarmer@Patina
Yep, it was the Mariposa Gallery, in ABQ.
And the pawn shop where I purchased it is about 2 miles away. So the ring didn’t get too far!
That’s awesome you found him so he is from the Pacific north west! raven stole light ding ding just goes to show what they say is true "listen to your elders" you may have to get a set now you know where to get it:partying_face:
