Muddy Green Pendant

I found this at a good price and bought it because it was different than anything else that I had. The colors you see are pretty true; they range from a slightly minty-ish green on the right to more brownish-yellow on the left, for a somewhat muddy color. Its unusual color was interesting contrasted with this very black matrix that has, when viewed under a jeweler’s loupe, some very dark brown spots of matrix that is almost as dark as the black.

What type of turquoise is this?

Couldn’t find the hallmark information, but this looks to be a piece of Chinese turquoise. Looks like a really good sized stone.

@Jason Thanks for the insight! Yes…large stone, I’d say around 2.5 inches long.

Now that you’ve jogged my memory on that it could be Chinese, I’m vaguely recalling a post here, I think, where the name “dragon skin turquoise” comes to mind. I’ll have to look for that one.

I found this on one of my Facebook groups, has very similar colors. Pattern is a little different but close, calling this Cloud Mountain.

@Jason You’re right…and the matrix is just like it. Thanks for the info!!
