My birthday gift to myself

Do you have an actual way to get a hold of her besides the blog? I once emailed her question about a cuff through there, and never got a response.

Thank you for your kind words, @CyanideRose18. I labeled those stones with a fair amount of confidence as that ketoh came from Shiprock Santa Fe. Jed Foutz, Shiprock’s proprietor, is very reserved when it comes to item descriptions and turquoise mine attributions. That being said, only with provenance, paperwork or undisputed facts will he confidently apply a label. I’ll step out on a limb and say that with Jed’s thirty years of experience and five generations of his family’s trading history, I place a great amount of trust in his word. :+1:

I think I saw a piece similar to your piece but it wasn’t on leather. I’ll have to look again tomorrow. I didn’t know what it was so thanks so much for sharing your Ketoh.

Mmm……It was common for ketohs to be converted to buckles and lids for boxes. Like this Blue Gem stunner…

If you do go back, I’m sure many of us would be very interested in seeing what it was!

That is a gorgeous box! The ketoh design is also used in cuffs and buckles.

That box is amazing. I love the inlay. I think they just took the leather off for scrapping the silver. I’ll get a picture if I can find it again.

@CyanideRose18 Hi ~ Wishing you a very Happy Birthday! You sure have great taste in birthday gifts. That is one fabulous cuff. So glad you saved it from the fire. Makes me shudder to even think about that. I’ve got my fingers crossed for you that it’s by Dan Simplicio.

Hey Patina  Thanks so much. That would be icing on the cake. I’m going to be lazy and do nothing all day right after I finish shopping lol.

Better than the Senior Discount at Denny’s!

Reminds me of when they would take Chinese rank badges and repurpose them as trays in the 1920’s.

Beautiful piece and Happy early Birthday. I don’t understand how people could throw away a piece like that.

lol, I must admit I haven’t eaten at Denny’s in probably 15 years

Thanks so much @nanc9354. I totally agree with you. I went back today and got a few more pieces. They have been there for at least 60 years and she said the stuff just sits.

That’s what I see or maybe E= with a backwards 9 or a lowercase q then A. Idk
