My dad passed in February, and I asked for his turquoise ring that he often wore.
I know he bought it at a garage sale some years ago. I am not a jewelry expert, and wanted to see if this was a valuable piece outside of the sentimental value.
Here are some photos of the ring and makers marks.
Thank you for any help in identifying what I have.
Nice carved turquoise ring. Looks like Jacob Kahe. Sorry about your dad! ![]()
What a nice sentimental piece to have and always remind you of his presence.
Thank you. The marks I’ve seen online didn’t show the K’s facing each other, so I wasn’t sure if a makers mark varied that much.
I’m not sure that is his mark. They look different, although I know there can be variations. I couldn’t find the mark on your ring.
Lovely ring!
That site shows opposing”K’s” as possible fake or unknown @Ziacat . But we know that site is not the conclusive authority on all hallmarks. The ring looks good to me.
Thanks, I couldn’t find it, and looked there. Maybe I didn’t have on my bifocals ![]()
Yes the ring looks nice to me, too. Would have guessed Navajo, but then there’s that carved stone, so I’m not sure. And without knowing the hallmark, can’t say anything for sure.
(On a side note I don’t understand why my voice texting capitalizes random words. So annoying.)
It also kind of reminds me of this…
@Ziacat : He lists the unknown and fake marks at the end of each letter section.
I know, I looked, I just missed it.
Thank you for sharing and welcome to the site Erock67. I found one other online like your Father’s ring. I believe it has been mistakenly attributed to Navajo artist Kee Brown. Kee Brown has the different back-to-back double K stamp and also, from what I’ve seen specializes in storyteller pieces.
Your ring is beautiful and looks to be Navajo to me.
Good find, but I’m not sure I completely trust this one on Etsy. When I looked up Kee Brown, his mark is the K’s facing out, not in. Kee Brown Navajo Vintage Sterling Silver Storyteller Bracelet BP700
I trust this site more than Etsy or eBay in general. On here, the K’s face out. I don’t know if artists change their marks that much. Maybe Jason will chime in.
But whoever made the ring on this Etsy link could be the same as who made @Erock67’s ring.
@raysha nice detective work! I feel it’s very possible that the @Erock67 ring & the ring you discovered online were made by the same artist. I say this because they share design similarities: both have that scalloped bevel, both have a similarly carved turquoise stone, and both ring shouders flare and then taper. IMO, the hallmark isn’t a match to the Kee Brown hallmark as shown in the @Ziacat post. Just my 2 cents. Both are very nice rings.
