Nice set. Quid pro quo. How much did you pay?

That is one very nice Zuni needlepoint set! I only have one or two pieces of Zuni Jewelry so I’m sure some of the others can give you much better information.

I paid 1500$ plus tax

@Yamei Congrats! I think your new turquoise set is beautiful & will look fabulous when worn all together. I hope you enjoy wearing your new treasure. (I’m not an appraiser so I can’t speak to what it’s worth.)

I’m still not good with Navajo beads as far as handmade vs machine made. Are these handmade?

From what I’ve seen online at the high end shops you did fine for an entire set if authentic. Billy the Kid auction sold a signed set for $1900. I see Zuni scratched on the naja. Any makers mark?

That being said, here is an alleged “Frances Begay” set offered by jumigoods on imall for $33. Lots of repros out there. Others more knowledgable than me should comment.

I’m pretty sure those beads are handmade.

I deleted above post, because I looked closer at the pic that Steve’s Trail posted and I was wrong. I thought the beads in his pic were different than what they are.

@Yamei, your necklace is beautiful!

@StevesTrail this “imall” thing is a typical example of an internet scraper site that steals pics of authentic goods and aims to trick people with ridiculously low pricing. (There’s a lot of this fraudulent activity online in many categories of collectibles.) This image is indeed a set by Frances Begay, which was sold at auction, and the set went for $2K.

To the original poster, it’s a nice set and you did well. Enjoy it!

Thanks for everyone chiming in. This type of dialogue is great in aiding with authentications and exposing scams. Very educational.

Glad you responded on this. I’m trying to teach myself how to differentiate between handmade & machine made beads. My guess was handmade. Yay!

I’m glad you responded to this. I enlarged that image, from imall, and looked at it very closely. I took a long look. And, I thought, this sure looks real to me. (I’m not familiar with scrapper sites. Good info to know.)
