My turquoise and coral ring marked WT

I recently received a turquoise and coral ring that I purchased online. I’m very pleased with it and it fits beautifully. It is also quite sturdy weighing in at 33g. It is hallmarked with an inscribed W T. In one of my hallmark books I found that mark attributed to Wilson Tsosie but it doesn’t show up in any of the others. The ring has a timeless look but I feel like it was made in the 50-60’s range. I did a biography search and found that Wilson Tsosie, Sr. was born in 1924 and passed in 2007 which may account for my difficulty finding the etched mark on any pieces of jewelry currently for sale. He had two other stamped hallmarks. Even this ring wasn’t attributed to him but they did include a clear picture of the hallmark. If any of you are familiar with him or his work I would love to hear what you know. Also, do you think I’m accurate in my dating of when the ring was made? As always, I’m very grateful for the knowledge you share. Thanks

Great ring. For my 2 cents the ring looks to have started out as one of the oval top cast ring blanks we purchased from IJS in the 70s and 80s and nicely modified to be an original creation. I like seeing red Mediterranean coral with rich blue turquoise. The turquoise looks Bisbee to me.

@Islandmomma Congrats, what a fabulous ring! One of the best I’ve seen combining super nice coral with beautiful turquoise. (My first thought was Bisbee.) Hope you enjoy wearing your new treasure.

That’s cool to know. I did notice a line on the inside that looked like it might’ve been from casting, but since I don’t make jewelry, I hadn’t even stopped to think about that. As heavy as it is, I would say that silver was definitely at a lower cost. I have had a lot going on so I hadn’t even gotten as far as thinking about Bisbee but I do know that that thing screamed at me off of a webpage. I made myself sleep on it and then I got up the next morning and bought it. And I had to wait a long time because all the winter storms held it up. I had two packages come one from up north and one from Utah and they both took about 10 days. I am definitely ready for spring. Thanks

Thank you. It sure is nice to keep seeing Bisbee mentioned. :raising_hands:

Beautiful ring. My first thought was Persian turquoise. But could be Bisbee, who knows.

Thanks, Steve. I can always count on you to find the obscure stuff. That is similar to what I found in my one book. And then when I went looking for confirmation in the other books that part was not mentioned. Woodard’s must have had some good artists working for them. I have two other cuffs that are very different from each other and both quite nice imo. They only have the Woodard hallmark though so I don’t know who made them. Thanks

I’d say Persian is a good option as well. And I have some beautiful Persian turquoise. This doesn’t have the familiar high dome to the cabs as my other ones do but it does look similar. :hugs:

Great ring. I love everything about it.
I have some sterling ring blanks purchased from Thunderbird Supply in the mid 1980’s. Your ring looks like it could have been made from a similar blank.
