I picked up eight of these hand hammered sterling bangles. No marks but verified sterling by XRF. Any thoughts on maker(s)?
Hippie/Greenwich Village artisanal. At one point in time you couldn’t get away from this look in earrings and bangles.
Thanks @chicfarmer ! As usual these are being sold as NA (which I didn’t believe, but had no idea at all) and Scandinavian. Probably as both would command better $$$. I think even James Avery made them.
Could be mid-century modern. That’s hot and just as good. Add to it hippie, Greenwich Village, and bohemian, and…Ka-Ching! Perception is reality.
Just my instinct. I started wearing this type [censored] number of years ago and had it in both silver and gold, as earrings. To this day my fave gold earrings are three-part dangles of this type. They also existed in the millions in Lucite.
don’t forget to add CHONKY & BOHO to your ad for that added impact smack
your post triggered a memory of a few CHONKY bracelets I stumbled into late 2018/2019.
The ones with the pointy ends are a popular South Asian Indian style. I picked up a couple in Trinidad, in a Hindu town there. Pretty and fun to wear.
from that popupshop visit that day, handfull of stuff, 10pcs $50.
guy opened up an overnight thrift store flea market in the building he was renting for storage.
boxes in the back and folding tables up front, plywood sign out front, no register, no receipts etc.
I managed 5 or 6 visits over a few weeks before he shut down in a hurry
I have a set in brass in a similar style that I bought in the 80’s (still wear them as each is a different style) when we were all “preppy”.
Interesting, thanks! That helps to date mine. Ooooo, vintage as well. Maybe I’ll just send them to auction with other silver.
Boho, chonky, and vintage. They’ll sell in a heartbeat
Those are cool. But in my school days preppy looked a whole lot different, but then I live in Indiana
I simply love these hammered bangles!!! In my, youth I had a pair of hammered silver hoop earrings that I wore throughout college (until I started collecting NA). Between my granny glasses, Birkenstocks, long straight hair and these earrings I looked like a hippie! I wish I knew what happened to them! Are you selling any of the bangles???
The bangles will be for sale.
One of these earrings got flattened but our friend liked them so much she wanted to know if there were any options other than scrapping. So, I had the idea to flatten the other, add Morenci turquoise cabs, and she liked the way they turned out. (Not set yet in the photo)
I posted these as another 80s style.
Very Dynasty goes SW.
Look forward to seeing the finished earrings…pretty cabs! Please message me the price you are asking for the bangles (and the size).
