NA pearls means the silver round beads in NA jewelry right? Are they always hammered?
Some inlaid pieces list MOP as one of the materials used. Are any round MOP beads in NA jewelry.
In some areas of the country, river shell fish, mussels for example, can contain fresh water river pearls. These have become rarer for many reasons. Have NA used these in jewelry?
My understanding is they are the hand made sterling beads.

They are called Navajo pearls. Here is a pic of mine (I had posted them in another thread a few weeks ago).
As far as MOP beads, I dunno. But MOP and other shell are used in native jewelry, for example, in inlay work.

Thanks. That helps. I thought so, but wanted to be sure.

Thanks, nice pearls.
With the trend that was popular a few years ago, beading, people were breaking apart jewelry they inherited or bought second hand and “marrying” them. It seems more important than ever to know your source.
