Found this piece at a local estate sale weighs over 160grams and is silver but not marked. I don’t know a lot about it but had a tag that it was Naja squash blossom silver
Welcome to Turquoise People. Great find, this style is referred to as chip inlay and made popular by a Navajo artist Thomas Singer. The figure is called a waterbird peyote bird, symbol of the Native American Church.
Awesome thanks that gives me some more info to work with I was going to keep it but it’s too heavy for my wife to wear.
It’s beautiful! You did well. But I agree with the heaviness, that’s one of the reasons I avoid squashes.
I’m in Georgia does anyone know of someplace that does appraisals on something like this?
YOU should wear it!
Hahaha I would be hunchback quickly!
lol…nah,mine goes 150 & doesn’t bother me a bit…though I might move the clasp every few hours.
Just search “chip inlay Navajo squash blossom” or similar phrase in Sold listings on eBay, and you should find several, with their selling prices. This is if you just need the value but not a formal appraisal. If you need that, you may have to get it in front of a Native jewelry expert.
Thanks for the info will do
