Navajo… Tears?

My aunt bought these earrings in Sedona in the 1970s, and said they were Navajo Tears. They are made from very thin silver pieces, and have a nice shimmering movement. I haven’t heard of that, before or since, and am wondering!

Interesting! I’ve never heard of “Navajo tears” before either. Are there any markings on the back of any of the pieces? From what I can see the half-moon shaped joining pieces as well as the little dangles all look very uniform in shape, which doesn’t make me think Native American handmade. I’m wondering if these are from Taxco Mexico? there is a ton of very high quality artisan silver work from Mexico all over the southwest! I bet these are fun to wear!

No markings at all— and here’s a pic of the little holders, which do look handmade. Needs a serious polish! I wondered if they were Mexican— but haven’t seen others.

That’s a puzzlement. You can pretty much guarantee a hallmark on anything made in mexico, they changed a bit over the years but i would expect to see one somewhere on the back of one of the little dangles. Interesting!

Don’t know this term. These earrings are fun and have that swingin’ 70s look, but not Native in construction or style.

I don’t know where she got the name — maybe just from the store in Sedona! Who knows?!?
