Yes, thank you very much. We found an older model Dodge Durango with 80,000 miles on it. It looks like it was garage kept because it’s in fantastic shape. We have replaced tires because they were sitting and dry rotted. The drivers window actuator got replaced and that now goes up and down smoothly rather than falling randomly and last thing to do is replace the power control module when it finally gets here from the post office. It’s sat in Charleston for two days and then got to Edisto after the drivers had left on their routes yesterday .I guess it will finally be here Monday. She will need to get a third job to pay for the fuel because it’s got the 5.9 liter V8. I have been told by a number of people that that’s probably the best motor Dodge ever made. I have never owned a Dodge and the only one I was ever around was my late brother-in-law back in the 70s. He was a mechanic and a young slight redneck and he had a Dodge dart that would fly like a scalded cat. Thank you for asking.
Good to hear the great news. At least it’s not a diesel as some stations here are selling it over $6/gallon. 
Well, she was driving an old Ford SUV and that also had a V8 so I really don’t think there’s gonna be more than a couple miles per gallon difference at the most. She just gonna have to keep her foot up off the accelerator because I have the feeling this thing’s gonna fly when we get finished.
Being able to fly and flying are two different things. I’m sure she is a great young lady and will only fly occasionally.

Yes, I really appreciate the financial help from all those who were able to help. I emptied my bank account and my son contributed a big chunk and we were able to make it happen. The part that we had to order is finally arriving today so hopefully she will be driving her own vehicle in a day or so. The non-stop stress from the last several months finally built up and I broke out my credit card this weekend. Now I will enjoy wearing new turquoise while I pay off my debt. Thanks again 
Initially thought it might be the 5.9 turbo diesel, but it looks like those were aftermarket swap ins. The 5.9 gas V8 does have a reputation for being extra thirsty but I’d take that that any day vs being without transportation. Please let us know how it works out, @Islandmomma!
I know that this isn’t a truck forum, and I haven’t seen @Islandmomma’s daughter’s truck, but I do know that Dodge made a 5.9L gasser, as well, as you mention, Mike. I have a ‘93 Dodge W250, and it has the venerable and unstoppable 5.9L Cummins. Making the Cummins available from ‘89 to ‘93 saved Dodge’s rear in the truck market for those years. They’re 100% mechanical and need no electronics to run. I almost sold mine recently, but decided against it.

I cannot believe that I can contribute a little something to this conversation! When my husband moved here, he drove a coupla thousand miles in his 1970 Dodge pickup, Slant 6 225 cubic inches engine. He loved that truck. That engine would.not.die. He eventually sold the truck, and still has regrets.
I used to have an ‘83 Dodge D150 with the same engine and a 3 speed with overdrive manual transmission! That engine is affectionately referred to as the “leaning tower of power”! I literally drove that truck until it fell apart. I actually still have it; it’s decorating the back of our old shop and acquiring quite a nice sun fade. 
As a bona fide GM person, I can still say that that is one cool truck.

I apologize for derailing @Islandmomma’s thread; I’ll stop my truck talk. 
Don’t stop on my account. I was just getting into it. The part came yesterday and it was the power control module so that had a lot to do with what was going on. Andrew snapped it in there yesterday afternoon and took the truck and left drove all around, came back by and said he was headed to my cousins to spend the night rather than sleep on my sofa. I think he detoured over to the grocery store and came around the long way home with ice cream for my cousin. We went today so that I could drive it and of course had to put gas in it. Holy moly was that a big drop in the bucket compared to a four-cylinder Honda CRV! But it rides smooth, and we went by my dad‘s and he checked it out and he was impressed. He was also extremely excited that he was going to get his truck back! The thing has 80,400 and some miles on it, the inside is clean and in good condition. No cracking or chipping on the dash or anywhere, three rows of seats, headliner is tight. Needs a few more little things , but I’m out of money. She’s going to have to pay for some of it. It needs Freon, but she said she had a can in her late dad‘s truck where she was storing that kind of stuff also the radio doesn’t have a volume, so I think the guy started putting a radio in it, and didn’t know what he was doing and never hooked up the speakers. Cruise control works. The low fuel light comes on- saw that happened today lol. And I do believe that now that we put 150-200 miles on it with no problems that it is going to go to her house this evening and we’re gonna take Daddy‘s truck to him. drove like a champ
