To all my belt and buckle collectors, I need to sell this vintage Concho belt that I posted here several years ago. My First Concho Belt. My daughter’s car blew up and is beyond repair. She is a single mom who is working two jobs and needs help. @mmrogers gave me a price range way back when I first posted it in 2019. It has been stored in my safe all this time. Nothing has been changed. It is in the same condition as when I purchased it. It anyone is interested please contact me. I have not set a specific price but I need as much as I can get. Thank you for reading this and I hope one of you ends up with it. Then I will know it has a good home. As always, I thank you ![]()
@Jason will you please move this to the Trading or Selling category? Thanks
So sorry to hear about your daughter’s car, Islandmomma. She sounds like a very responsible and loving mother doing what it takes to care for her child/children. And you’re a wonderful mother for wanting to help her.
I remember your first belt well. It is absolutely stunning! The repousse and stamp work is beautiful and the spacers are really unique. Whoever created it, knew what they were doing. I would think it shouldn’t take too long for this one to find a new home. ![]()
Thank you for your kind words. I thought there was a very good chance that that belt would sell here and it would bring me a little chunk. I also knew if it’s sold on here that it would go to a good home. ![]()
@Islandmomma Oh, I’m sorry to hear about your daughter’s car. That’s just awful. Wishing you the best of luck for a quick sale for this beautiful concho belt. I hope that you’ll be very satisfied with the outcome
.
That really sucks. But before you start selling, how about a go fund me for her. Worth a try and the belt is not going to buy a car with prices these days. Let us know if you go that direction.
I’ll check with some contacts and see if anyone has a vehicle they are looking to move.
I hadn’t even considered a go fund me. I’m a little hesitant to do that because they take a chunk of it but also because we live in a small community and my dad is still living. He’s 94 and I honestly think that it would embarrass him. If anybody is comfortable making a private donation to my Venmo or PayPal, it would get earmarked and put aside for the car. We have found several older model, Honda Accords etc.that are not extremely expensive. I think if we look and have friends looking, we can find somebody looking to sell an estate vehicle that would fit the bill.
Just also know that I do not have a problem selling that belt to one of you people on this forum. I know it would go to a good home and it’s just been locked in my safe for seven years or so.
I can understand his generation might be embarrassed. However, sometimes we need to suck up the pride when someone needs help and we are not able. Sorry, not much compassion, just reality. GFM does not take a lot. But I’d be willing to throw in however you choose.
My sister is looking for a car now. She has a 2013 Legacy with 200k but it seems to run ok. A bit of an exhaust leak so you have to keep it on cabin air or open the window.
OK, maybe I need to get back to reality. I’m used to being able to fix things and I’m just starting to realize I can’t fix everything. I have an appointment at 10 in the morning, but I will talk to Nickie afterwards and see what her thoughts are on the subject. And if I do the GoFundMe that should focus the majority of the attention my way and not directly on the family. Thank you for making me realize that. Once everything is straightened out and set up, I will let you know.
I hope your sister finds a fantastic vehicle!
Thanks so much! ![]()

Adapt, improvise, overcome. At crisis times it’s always a good idea to stay calm, step back and regroup. Sell jewelry last ![]()
My sister is planning to go out tomorrow if the rain stops. If it worked out my sister was willing to give the car away.
I’m sorry to hear about your daughter’s car. Wishing you all the best in finding the perfect vehicle at the right price.
I was sorry to learn of your daughter’s troubles Islandmomma. I agree with @TAH, it sounds like she’s doing all she can to provide and she no doubt has an exceptional mother willing to do the same. I understand sacrifice, and pride for that matter, but I would hate to see you sell your first concho belt. It’s an exceptionally well crafted and unique example. With the avenues available today, one would like to believe that you could hang on to that beauty and that people would come together to help. I feel that being a good person has nothing to do with outward appearances or what people know, and everything to do with quietly doing the right thing and preferring no recognition. I look forward to hearing that you and your daughter are on the other side of this one. ![]()
Thank you so very much for your kind words. Seems that everyone on here has come together to comfort, encourage and push me forward. Nickie’s going to be so excited to hear that. I already have some money toward a new car. Someone else mentioned doing a GoFundMe, which I didn’t want to do because I’m afraid it will embarrass my father, but I think I’m actually going do it anyhow. I recently had a young lady come in my life who is a senior benefits person, and she told me a couple days ago that with my health issues, I qualify to have a caretaker in the house part of the time. We’re having that phone call today to see if we can get the paperwork part taken care of and then my daughter will have three jobs. At least that one will be here where we can laugh and joke, and my grandson can come along. It’s not so terrible to come here (almost teenage boy)because we had the same TV and he’s allowed to take the BB gun and go back by the marsh and shoot at the target that’s in front of a berm. I forgot to say good morning and have a wonderful day!
@Islandmomma, it just seems like you’ve been through your share of tough stuff lately. I don’t have any advice to offer except that you should definitely look into the caregiver avenue. I know numerous people that have done this, and it was really a big help. And since we both believe in the power of prayer, I’ll be praying for wisdom for the both of you and for a car that’s cheap and runs great! You are a blessing to all of us on here.
It sounds like things are coming to together for you and your family. Sometimes when we ask for help, it comes in a form that we had never thought about.
We are all here to listen and to help.
I did as suggested yesterday and opened to GoFundMe for my daughter’s new (used) vehicle. I’m not sure where they posted it but I have copied the link and I’m going to add it here. Thank you guys for encouraging me and pushing me into action. I appreciate each and every one of you. We’ve all been on here for so many years until it’s like a second family. I had absolutely no idea how to do this so I have changed the link and I think this time I have the right thing posted. Too bad I don’t have a grandkid here. ![]()

That’s great you got it going. PM your details to me and I will send $ directly to you.
If you have USAA insurance they are good at finding decent used cars. My sister was in the same boat and found a reliable used Mazda through them.
