Welcome. What type of help or information are you needing? Turquoise identification? If Native made? Artist? Value?
The necklace is marked jke sterling
ring is marked only sterling.
and the bracelet has no marking.
Anyone have an idea of the type of turquoise or who the silversmith jke is. Its supposed to be antique. Is it native american or from a differnet country. Any info or help would be greatly appreciated thank you!
They all have flakes of pyrite bracelet has fine pyrite in it.
It looks to be morenci to me on what ive been studying but i could be wrong im not an expert i just love turquoise!
Guesses on types of turquoise. Thoughts. How much its worth, jke sterling if anyone knows native or non
can you add closeup photos of the back area behind each piece.
construction details may help.
how JKE was stamped to match known examples.
Yes added. bracelet has no mark.
@matrix Hi & Welcome. I checked my 3rd edition of Hougart’s book, “Native American and Southwestern Silver Hallmarks” but, there’s no listing for “JKE”. I wouldn’t consider these pieces to be antique. In jewelry speak, antique generally means around 100 years old. While I’m not a silversmith, the materials used look modern to me. I’m leaning toward the jewelry being artisan made. These are nice pieces of turquoise jewelry especially for daily wear, imo.
thank you
as far as J.K.E. nothing listed here:
and no artist is listed in Bille Hougart’s 5th edition with that combo of initials
I’m certainly not an expert, but the high dome, symmetrical cut, and color/heavy pyrite are similar to the Persian cabs @Stracci just posted. That’s just my educated guess and I’ll be the first to call myself out on being wrong.
Honestly, I don’t know. My first guess would be Kingman turquoise but, these cabs have so much pyrite that they may well be another type of turquoise. Without provenance for the turquoise, it can be challenging to accurately determine the type or mine.
Hello, you’ve now made five separate posts asking about turquoise type and have received several good-faith responses. Without provenance from the miner or a seller specialist that’s how it’s gonna go.
Respectfully there maybe someone who knows turquoise really well and may have a different opinion. Im not saying they are wrong but im open for more information more the better and someone may come across who has studied gems. Or knows turquoise really well because they deal with it all the time thank you
You have had people like that respond to you; those that gave you opinions are members that have been on here for a long time, and are very knowledgeable. Asking the question once is enough. As members read it they’ll add in if they think anything different from previous responses, or have anything to add.
The truth is unless you got the stones directly from the miner, or someone who knew the miner, and you have good provenance where they came from, any answers are educated guesses.
And it helps to be patient. People don’t always read everything on here immediately.
And i thanked them for their opinion. Im someone who likes more info i asked them because they never stated in the beginning what they thought it may be so out of curiosity i asked them (there was no problem from anyone )so yes the question got asked more then once i also got 2 differnet answers which im okay with because they are guesses. Thank you for opinion.
Also as someone who is very interested in learning about a topic you want to learn all about that very topic you dont stop learning because you got one answer. You learn from all kinds of different people
