Thanks nanc9354
I am on the mend. They gave me steroids and the swelling is going down. I have no idea what happened. I’m so glad I’m not in pain anymore. I did wear a cuff that I haven’t worn in a while but idk. Thanks so much again ![]()
Thanks so much here4turquoise
I really appreciate for checking in on me. I’m much better now and able to finally get some rest. I wore the one I posted with the coral, turquoise and mother of pearl the day before, hopefully that wasn’t the cause. Thanks again here4turquoise ![]()
@CyanideRose18 It’s good to hear your on the mend.
Thanks so much
I put a cuff on today! I’m so glad my wrist is almost back to normal ![]()
Yesterday i received this pretty butterfly pendant/brooch. My guess is that it’s a Zuni piece from around the 1950s (it’s unmarked).
And although technically not NA, i also would like to share my first Mexican Taxco piece. It’s a 980 silver necklace with what i believe to be Chrysocolla stones:
I was able to find both pieces locally and am very happy with them.
Love that butterfly
!
I’ve waited to purchase a Zuni fetish necklace until just the right one came along. This is the one that captured my heart. It’s by Lena Boone. The anchoring owl especially speaks to me but each little animal is endearing.
Not sure if you know that Lena passed away August of last year…sad.
Yes, I knew that she had passed.
I agree fetishes are so sweet and fun! I have collected a lot of them over many years…so many different animals, forms and materials used! Here are couple of Lena Boone’s frog fetishs with their “bundles” on their backs:
More is more… the RD hallmark on the coyote/wolf pin is unidentified. While I like this pin a lot, I’m on the fence about whether or not it’s a Hopi made piece.
Nice. I like your coyote pin too…howling at the lightening. And the bird pin is so cute. I recently got a Milson Taylor ring. Here is something I bought a while ago but I just sold the Mexican earrings that came with it. I love spiny. This is by Albert and Jeanette Cleveland.
I also bought my first Navajo pearl necklace, weighs almost 80 G. Are they machine made?
Congratulations on your first silver saucer beads “or Navajo pearls.” My thought is that these are not hand made. Love these; I have some very similar to yours😄. I don’t think I’ve seen handmade saucer beads, but I’d love to see them if anyone has some.
Have fun trying different pendents with them, but they’re fabulous worn alone!
Thank you Bmp. I will enjoy wearing them. Now I must find a pendant with a large bail.
I have these saucer beads (bottom necklace, this is from an old thread) I bought them at the Eiteljorg Market a couple years ago, and the artist definitely said they are handmade. When I look through my magnifying glass I can see little file marks on each bead.
That being said, I really don’t know whether @nanc9354’s beads are handmade, I would lean towards not, but they are really pretty.
@Patina, I love your new Hopi pieces! Especially the little roadrunner - at least that’s what I thought the little bird was.
Hi Nance. Beautiful pendant! The saucer beads look handmade to me.
Whether or not a file is used to smooth joints varies from silversmith to silversmith. The joints on these beads are beautifully finished, and were probably cleaned up with a fine sanding belt on a lapidary machine, or something like a grey wheel on a polishing lathe (this is a very normal process, especially for more modern hand made jewelry).
I’d need to see the beads firsthand or have really good closeup snapshots to know for sure, but from what I can see, you may well have the real deal here ![]()
These are the 2 strands of saucer beads I have, shiny one just acquired from Perry Null. Both handmade per seller, would like to have some that are smaller and rounder ![]()
And speaking of Perry Null, these are the other things that came home with me. I left some items for repair as well, so a great visit!
Thanks for responding about her beads, I generally can’t tell unless it’s very obvious ![]()
Beautiful! Really love those earrings. I need to shop there someday, but that won’t happen soon since I have now spent ENTIRELY TOO MUCH this year ![]()
