New online exhibit

Arizona State Museum Curator Emeritus Diane Dittemore recently posted a new online exhibit concerning the jewelry collection of Pierre Lecompte du Noüy that was donated to the museum in the 1968.

Perspectives on the fine collection were requested from Mark Bahti, Tucson gallery owner and prolific author; Jonathan Batkin, former director of the Wheelwright Museum in Santa Fe; independent researcher-authors Pat and Kim Messier and Robert Bauver; and museum professional and jewelry author Dr. Shelby Tisdale.

It may not be the biggest assemblage of jewelry, but it’s comprised of absolute stunners. The historic dialogue from Pierre’s wife, Mary, as well as the conversation from contemporary scholars regarding the collection, was a treat to enjoy. Hopefully others will find it so, as well. :+1:

If it wouldn’t be too much trouble, please film this and share it with your fellow Turquoise People.

This sounds an awful lot like what happened the last time @TAH and I were in Paris on a raid :smiling_face_with_horns: …I mean a museum visiting trip. :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

It sure is, Tom. I really like the buckle, even with it’s relatively simple rectangular profile. The repoussé has a pleasing, bulbous look, and the patina is beautiful. I’m very fond of narrow leather concho belts, but the profiled leather on this one looks awesome. :+1:

Thanks, I really enjoyed reading this. There are some really nice pieces in the collection. Wouldn’t mind having some of them to wear!
