That is really cool! Love the stone..mine 8 or royston? DO you know who the artist is?
Found it on ebay. Here is the link.
I didn’t see a hallmark. Here is the description.
“The turquoise is a green shade with brown matrix giving it an earthy feel. The tips are handmade and fancy the dangling elements BUT the most incredible aspect of this treasure is that it is hinged and opens to reveal a hand cut traditional Navajo scene with a man on a horse and a woman with a sheep standing in front of a tree. The background is a nature scene reflective of Navajo land. (see the video!)
The construction and artistic creativity are just beautiful and a true collector’s item. This came from a gentleman who was a true bolo tie enthusiast. The piece is in perfect condition and ready for the next owner.”
Size: Main element: 2 3/4" long x 2 1/4" wide
Oh my gosh, that is so cool! I wish I had the $$ for it.
Me too @Phoenix7 I don’t wear bolos but would definitely consider this one. So unique in my eyes.
It is amazing, but it has a little too much going on for my personal taste. But it would be cool in a museum!
HOW can it be unsigned? That’s very, very puzzling. It is clearly in the manner of Clarence and Russell Lee, but I just can’t believe they would have created this and not hallmarked.
Interesting share for sure!
@here4turquoise Wow, that’s pretty incredible. I’ve never seen anything like it before. Sure looks like #8 turquoise, imo. Unsigned? That’s odd to me. Who wouldn’t want to take proper credit for such a unique piece?
Exactly! It’s just ![]()
It’s a pop up bolo! Love it!![]()

I agree with @chicfarmer ! It makes no sense it’s not signed. As soon as I saw the inside I thought that must be Clarence / Russel Lee! Could it be a collaboration…an intersection between jewelry and pictorial sculptural art? And the turquoise ain’t too shabby on its own
. I wonder if anyone has checked the backside of the popout pictorial figures for a small hallmark… I sure would!
I totally agree @Bmpdvm. Not signed. From a bolo enthusiast that has no idea of the maker. It is unique with a nice stone. However, something seems
y.
What a cool bolo! I love it. I immediately thought of Clarence and Russell Lee as well, as it’s very much in their style and has similarities to their work. However, as a Clarence and Russell collector who follows their work closely, I can say with a fair degree of confidence that this isn’t them. The figures just aren’t theirs and don’t quite have the same level of detail. It’s still an amazing and creative bolo though.
Really an interesting piece. Everything was clearly rendered in advance, and to me the artistic style and attention to detail reflects both formal training, and an decidedly Asian aesthetic.
