It’s been a while since I have been able to go to any sales. But luckily I found a sale this morning that had some jewelry. I am one of those crazy people who just buys a bunch of stuff without really inspecting it first. This method usually works out well for me. So when I saw this cross I immediately said I would buy it. The lady put it behind the counter and I kept looking. I paid out and went home to inspect my items. I definitely came out ahead today, but what is going on with this cross. Is the turquoise decent? I think the original bail was cut to add on the stamped piece, but the soldering on it looks so sloppy. Does any of it look like it is Native American made?
As always thanks for any and all comments!!!
I added this photo for further clarification.![]()
Btw the cross is three inches long not including the bail.
Looks Navajo to me.., nice one!
It’s pretty turquoise, but I have no way of knowing if it’s stabilized, or what mine it’s from. It does definitely have a Navajo look, but you know like we always say without a hallmark or provenance, it’s impossible to say for sure. At first I wondered if that was a shepherd’s hook on the bail, but I think you’re right that it was cut.
Thanks Zia. Honestly, I don’t mind if it is stabilized. I only paid $25 for it. So, as long as the turquoise isn’t block then I am happy. Yeah, it’s always speculation without a signiture. I wonder if the style of the sterling script gives any clues as to the age of the piece?
No it doesn’t look like block to me. And I think I see some pyrite in at least one stone, so maybe Kingman or one of the others that has pyrite. I have no clue about the sterling stamp, maybe someone else will.
$25 is definitely good price
it’s a pretty cross!
