Hello, I have this huge turquoise nugget necklace and just recently started learning about cloud mountain, chinese mines, etc. I threw it in a box years ago thinking it was fake. I live in AZ and never saw any S.W. turquoise like this. Then I started researching and thought, hmm, maybe this is something special. Appreciate your thoughts.

Look up Chinese Turquoise on Google. I think you will see it there. Still pretty, and still has value.

I agree, this strikes me as Chinese turquoise. Could be from couple different mines/areas as the stones have different looks.
Durango Silver Co. has a great article on Chinese turquoise. here is a quote and a photo from their site: turquoise from mines in China accounts for about 80% of the stone on the U.S. market today, due to the scarcity of American turquoise . Only a handful of turquoise mines in the American southwest are commercially operating.
That’s interesting. I’m glad you think it’s Chinese turquoise. It’s huge and beautiful. I have another huge nugget one I assumed was fake until taking a closer look. Possibly Chinese too as it has a different look. It has fabulous sterling beads, huge nuggets and carved clear quartz. Any thoughts on this one?
