Possible Identification

The webbing in these stones are more of a very deep chocolate, hard to get the tone in photo. I know it’s impossible to say but would love any input on probability of type.

Thank you

In my opinion, looks like my Blue Winds turquoise (not quite Lander Blue). Here is a link to an example. Others will likely chime in.

Thank You so much for taking the time to help. I truly appreciate you sharing the video, so informative. This is the first time I have heard of that specific type, so cool! Turquoise is soo addicting.

Is there a hallmark on the back? Add photo.

I believe it had feathers or something that hung from it at one point. Purchased from estate sale. I can’t find anything other than “sterling”

Looks like it had additional pieces attached at one time. You might want to contact John Hartman at Durango Silver. He had all the BW turquoise and might recognize it.

Yes I contacted John Hartman a while back about some polychrome Bisbee. He doesn’t respond immediately but he was kind enough to reply and it was Bisbee. There is also the option of having it tested at the lab now. I knew it was in the works but recently found out that it is available. It is in Tx and the man that I talked to was very nice. I sent my three strand heishi w/jacklas to be tested and got great results. It is stabilized (not unexpected) but the entire thing is Bisbee.:clap::clap:
It costs $65.00 to have a stone tested and they run all sorts of tests. If it’s natural turquoise you will get a hardness level, grade and origin result. If it’s stabilized there is no grade. The report was 25 pages of tests and graphs. Now if the PO will just quit stalling with a priority box and get it home I’ll be happy! The name is West Texas Analytical Laboratory, 615 N Price Rd, Pampa, TX 79065
I already have 2 more pieces that I want to get checked. There is also an article about it on the Turquoise is America blog.

Oh my goodness ! Thank you so very much for this information. I have a few pieces I would like to get tested I just didn’t know that was even an option! Again thank you so much when I get the testing done on a few pieces I will share results with this forum I have grown to love so much.

I sure look forward to hearing the results. If you look them up, you will find a phone number as well as an email address. Mine did cost a little extra because of the fact that it was a heishi necklace. He went through and chose several different pieces to test. It was well worth it to find out that the entire necklace was Bisbee.

@Islandmomma is this the necklace that tested as Bisbee?

I remember that one, I really thought it looked like Bisbee but it just seemed like too much turquoise to all be Bisbee. Wow, congrats, what a find!

No that’s another one of his. I’ll find the heishi.

Now here are some others of his-

I also have a normal size heishi and that big tab necklace.

Also I just messaged him and I am currently waiting to hear back so I truly appreciate the info but yes I did find a number and it gave me the option to text or call so I texted and sent pictures. Please wish me luck.

I can understand why you’re scared. Pack it securely with plenty of bubble wrap, padding etc. Stuff it enough that the squash can’t slide around. I usually wrap bubble wrap around each side so they can’t bump each other. For extra security you can pack the first box inside a second box with more padding between the two. IMO the 2 box system is the most secure. Then add insurance. I used $1000.00 and even with all the padding etc. it cost under $25.00. If you use a double box with more weight it will be a little higher. I once shipped something that I insured for. $5000.00 and it was over $120.00.

would also recommend adding the “signature required” service option for both directions to the above instructions.
tracking numbers only mean that the package got delivered somewhere.

Good point. I found that every time I add Insurance to something it puts that on there automatically but it’s good to double check and make sure. It definitely needs to be signed for.
