Can turquoise be this blue?
It can be, however if all the stones are the exactly the same shade of blue (like in your photo) then that is a clear sign that the stones have been dyed.
Thank you. Yes, I see that too. I will see if it was just the camera/lighting or if in person it is that consistent.
Not possible for me, at least, to know from this picture if this is turquoise at all, vs. a composite or faux. How was it described, what did you pay for it?
Thank you for the reply! I have not bought this and won’t. It is labeled as turquoise, but at a consignment shop. So, not sure the owners/employees are knowledgeable in everything. They had other NA pieces that I did buy, they are very nice. I was just curious about this as I’m trying to learn more and more. I’ve asked on this platform about other pieces and I always am so grateful for people chiming in. ![]()
Here is another picture. It does look like there is slight color differences. But, I’m a total beginner!
To me this doesn’t look like genuine turquoise. And to answer your original question, natural turquoise rarely comes in this exact shade of blue. When I see something this color my first thought is stabilized and color treated turquise, and my second thought is not turquoise.
Thank you, I appreciate your input.
