Request for Maker's Mark Identification New Mexico Silver Cufflink

3

Hi, I’ve never posted before so hope I’m doing this correctly. Found some cufflinks that belonged to my father-in-law and I’m wondering if anyone recognizes the Maker’s Mark. Thank you!

Welcome to the forum, believe these are Mexican made. Here is a good place to start, Mexican Silver Marks Menu - Encyclopedia of Silver Marks, Hallmarks & Makers' Marks. Also, several collectors on the forum are very familiar with Mexican silver and might have the answer.

This is a Mexican Hallmark. I am unable to identify the owner of the hallmark in Hougart’s book. The hallmark reads; STERLING HECHO EN MEXICO. The only thing I can say from the hallmark is that it is pre-1980.

Thank you very much for pointing to a resource, Jason. While not identical to the three examples shown, I’m wondering if mine is Rafael Melendez.

Thank you very much, Christibo. I polished it up a bit and took some more photos, but I guess the hallmark will remain a mystery.
