Ruex ? What I think is signed on this cuff

Hello, I’m hoping to identify the maker on this kachina cuff. It tests as sterling silver. The etched signature looks like Ruex or Ruey? I don’t find anything like that in Hougart’s But maybe I’m reading it wrong? Thanks all!

That’s a dandy cuff! It’s a seller’s inventory mark. Not a hallmark.

Yup, a trader’s code to let them know what they paid for it and therefore what they could sell it for. Sorry I can’t help you with the maker but that is an amazing cuff. What strikes me as unique about this one vs. other Rainbow Man inlay pieces I’ve seen is the stamped silver earrings. Often they will have similar earrings made of silver wire or sometimes inlay, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen stamped silver like this. If you’re on Facebook you might try posting it in the “Historic Zuni Jewelry” group; there are a few people on there who are pretty good at making attributions for Zuni inlay.

Thank you, chicfarmer & OrbitOrange!
I appreciate the lead on the Zuni group. I have asked to join. Excellent eye noticing the stamped earrings. I’m not finding another like it yet.
