Sandcast bracelet shrank over the years

Is it possible to have a sandcast bracelet “spread” so it will fit a larger wrist? I havent been able to wear my fave piece in years after gaining weight. I am not optimistic, but had to ask. Thanks!!

There are a number of factors to consider:

  • Are there stones? If so, depending on where they are, you risk popping them out by distorting the bezel.
  • How thick is the bracelet? Typically, sand cast tends to be thicker and, a such, the greater the risk of micro cracks forming.
  • The shape of the bracelet. Most are not round, so spreading just the opening will not help the dimensions.
  • Finally, how much spread are you talking? I have “spread” a fairly thick bracelet by about 1/4-1/2 of an inch, but it needed to be reheated (I had a friend who made jewelry so he could help). He then put it on a wrist shaped tapered metal piece and “hammered” (more like gently tapped) it further down the metal.

I could be wrong, but I think all sandcast jewelry starts “flat” and is then shaped. If that is true, perhaps someone with experience could help.

Try taking it to an experienced jeweler or maybe send a pic to @Jason to see if it is possible.

There is a stone, but it is bezel set and mounted on the bracelet, not inlaid. There are also large leaves on each shoulder. I think i’m screwed. It needs to be about half inch larger.
