I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this bangle?
I purchased it at an auction and all I know is it is a Sterling Silver Shadow Box Story Teller Bangle weighing 61g.
I’d like to find out if it is Native American.
Thank you so much.
Karen
It’s my understanding that the term “storyteller” bracelet is specifically referring to a particular type of Native made pieces, like this …
…and I agree with Steve that this is not Native made. It has an Asian or an Indian (the country of India) look to it.
I would research southeast Asian hallmarks. The “u” looks like a vintage British date stamp. Could be from a former British colony, India area perhaps.
the images in the overlay have a First Nation Inuit look.
tried looking for the stamp marks but nothing conclusive yet
Thank you so much. I’m really interested in finding out more about it.
Looks like it may not be Story Teller as I was told at the auction but would love to know what it is.
Thank you for replying
you can start here looking for the stamped marks
Often people running auctions really don’t have a clue about Native American jewelry. I am pretty sure this is not Native American made, and it is definitely not a storyteller bracelet. The hallmark does not look at all right for Native American jewelry, and most of the time Native jewelers do not use the 925 stamp. But it is very pretty!
Thanks so much for taking the time to check.
Bit disappointing it’s not Native American but as you say, it’s still very pretty.
Kind regards
Karen
You’re very welcome. If you keep searching you’ll find the perfect Native American piece. And this one looks like it would stack really nicely with some other silver cuffs
