I picked this up at an auction recently…mostly because of the subject matter. I always make a point of stopping by Ship Rock when I am in NM. I have not seen it like this, on a concho belt that is. I have a hallmark here that is potentially dizzying!! I don’t want to call it for fear I am wrong! Please let me know who you think this could be and why?? 9 concho and the buckle…
I am curious to see what you find out!
Very cool belt! I think you found a great piece!
I think it would look pretty good on me, lol!
If that’s a “T”, it looks raised rather than stamped. Are you pretty sure that’s a hallmark rather than a bit of silver that may have come as a result of creating the piece? The little mountain looking thing next to it looks like a stamp, though.
It is a beautiful piece !
What a gorgeous use of turquoise! What a find!
Thanks everyone! I have heard that Tommy Singer had a very early hallmark that was a “T and a bird figure”. I have been unable to find anything more than a mere mention of this in any of my resources and online as well.
The T appears to have been made with a chisel or other tool, not a stamp. Both are sunken into the silver despite what the photo may look like. I am probably too hopeful…
I wouldn’t give up on that yet. My first thought was Tommy Singer but I never did any research because I’ve had a lot going on.
I just found out who made a cuff that I posted on here last year so there’s always hope. It is a great belt!
I never really liked chipped turquoise inlay but both of these pieces are really interesting and well crafted. The technique is perfect for the landscape design. I like!
I see a “T“ and a “quail” bird.
Looks beautiful.
