I saw this ring in a lot at shop goodwill.com. Any ideas on what type of turquoise it might be? I wonder if this is a situation where the stone might be better than the setting it’s in …
Which ring are you referring to? Do any have hallmarks (including pictographs)? The light blue I really don’t see anything that would indicate a specific mine. The spiderwebbed one looks like Chinese Hubei turquoise to me. Let me repeat that without provenance identification is an educated guess at best. Nice rings.
Agree with Islandmomma. I also wonder if it could be, wait for it…spider web Kingman?
@Emily Ring in the lower right corner - this is only a guess ~ it looks like Egyptian Desert Web turquoise to me. It’s a beautiful turquoise cab.
That’s a possibility. Shop good will pictures are not usually the best quality so maybe @Emily will post some better ones when the ring arrives. I am posting several for comparison. The ring and pendant were identified by the artists and the cuff was the consensus of several well versed turquoise people. Mine all seem to have a reddish brown matrix.
@Islandmomma Absolutely gorgeous turquoise in your photos. As a bona fide “ring person”, I’m seriously admiring your turquoise ring .
Yes I was referring to the webbed one. It seems like the setting is rather non descript, but the stone seems pretty attractive.
I’m not sure I’m going to bid on it. I’ve been pretty disappointed with shop goodwill lately.
That one is by Calvin Martinez with his usual ingot. It’s definitely a finger full. Thank you
I agree with you. I used to get some good deals on Shopgoodwill but now that they have been “discovered” people spend ridiculous amounts on things. I have actually seen comparable items for sale at better prices.
@Emily and @Islandmomma - agreed, I watch more than I bid to see how pieces go, some final prices are astonishing, some surprising they didn’t sell higher, so it’s an interesting game to watch.
