Signature (?) of an artist on a turquoise ring

Hello everyone,

I have a silver ring with a turquoise on which I already posted on this forum. But as the stone was moving too much inside the bezel, I decided to take it off the ring and replace it correctly. Then, carved on the flat of the ring inside the bezel I found a name: Butch Nanney (or Vanney), which I take is the name of the artist?
This in conjunction with the underside of the ring being inscribed with BNL 81-7 and CHEROKEE (All in caps)
The name inside is also inscribed in caps.
Does it rings a bell to someone?
There was also a little piece of leather placed betweeth the turquoise and the metal of the ring.
Do someone have any on who could be Butch Nanney, and if they were someone afiliated with a native group or tribe? Until now I found nothing.
Thank you!

@Theotihuacan Hi ~ I checked my Hougart’s book on Native American/Southwestern Silver hallmarks but, did not see the name Butch Nanney/Vanney listed. I’ve never used it but, “Google Lens” is a tool you may want to try in researching the name on your ring.

Pretty ring.
I tried searching for him or his jewelry and came up with nothing.

Thank you for having tried to search. Seems like I will be left wondering unless I chance upon some information.
