Thank you. She’s one of the best natural-turquoise and spiny oyster beadmakers active today, with a refined look to her work. It’s great to see some younger-generation jewelers continue the laborious work of beadmaking. Her mother’s jewelry is top tier, avidly collected.
My husband jokingly said, “I wonder if fish would bite those lures.” ![]()

They might, lol.
I have a pair of enameled fish earrings. Have had many ask if I made them from fishing lures.
I absolutely love both of these earrings, absolutely top if the line! If I’ve heard of Bonanza turquoise it’s since left my memory, but the turquoise used by Piki is always wonderful. These older slabs earrings are amazing. I could see wearing these daily as they’re so organic.
A good friend and fellow collector has a tab necklace by Cheryl Yestewa that’s superb (I’m only a little jealous!). It would be fun to see other pieces by Cheryl and Piki.
What are the navy ones made from? Such a beautiful color.
Lapis - I have a lovely graduated NA lapis necklace, so thought it needed earrings to go with.
Well now you have to show us the earrings with the necklace ![]()
That’s beautiful! What a gorgeous blue. Thanks for sharing!
I’m impressed with all the wonderful slab earrings you all have posted. I bought my first pair from Ray Lovado at Santa Fe Market this year. My husband actually complimented my earrings when I wore them a couple days ago. Ithink this is the first time he’s said anything about my earrings😄. These are natural Blue Gem:
My next pair will be by Piki Wadsworth…I love her French Wires with the small cabs, adds a nice dimension to the earrings. Thanks for the info about instagram @chicfarmer !!
Some new slab earrings purchased in the last 2 months. Left and center earrings by Ronald Chavez (Kewa/Santo Domingo). The center earrings are large! Earrings on the right by Marcella Castillo (Kewa/Santo Domingo).
@Stracci Yay, you’ve joined the club! Pretty turquoise & I like their size. I luv wearing my slab earrings - they’re featherlight for daily wear.
Those are lovely! Welcome to the club!
This type of earring is popular in my neck of the woods. But for some reason I never considered them. Until Redland Maggie started this thread!
There were lots of artists selling slab earrings at the last Indian Market in Santa Fe. I was hunting down a cuff so I didn’t seriously look at them. But when I saw these in the consignment shop, I had to get them.
There was a nice selection of NA jewelry at this shop. Rings, necklaces, etc. They also had jewelry by a local Anglo artist that I like, her name is Karla Hackman.
There were 3 cuffs there, each by Dino Garcia, Alex Sanchez, and Gary Custer. But the prices were pretty high on those.
It’s a big look, and they’re not heavy at all!
The only dues paid in this club are what you paid for your earrings ![]()
I found these sweet slab earrings at the consignment shop a few days ago. Not too big, not too small.
Love! they’re perfect for any outfit ~
I think they’re my new go-to earrings!
