Last time I was there the sales assistants were two young ladies whose knowledge base was, let’s be kind, still in formation. As in, I asked about whether a certain necklace was natural or stabilized turquoise, and it was a deer in headlights moment. You wouldn’t expect such a thing.
In contrast to this was my first ever visit to Garland’s years ago, with a saleswoman who readily led me into the whole enchantment feeling about the jewelry. She was wearing a huge coral cluster bracelet that was one of the most thrilling pieces of jewelry I’d ever seen: my introduction to Alice Quam. I made a vow to get that thing, and by golly, I did.
But now that I think about it, when I called last December to order another ring, it seemed like the sales gal was younger; She was really sweet, but didn’t seem super knowledgeable. Hopefully they keep training their staff.
I remember the lady last year wearing all kinds of gorgeous stuff. Wouldn’t that be fun! Glad you got your perfect cuff
If you get to Cameron Trading Post check there. That’s where I got mine, but I don’t remember if they had any others. And I can’t remember if you’re going to be in the Shiprock/Farmington area of NM. There’s a couple good trading posts up there
You’re getting him addicted Years ago my husband was a bit tempted to buy a Hopi band for his wedding ring, but he ended up sticking with his plain gold one.
Cameron Trading Post has a separate building that houses a higher end art gallery, but it was closed when I was last there (I think it closes around 5 pm). They occasionally put a few of the gallery items in with the jewelry in the main building, and that’s how I got the Lovato cuff. However, I was tempted by quite a few things!
Did you mean the one I went to in Bluff? That is Twin Rocks Trading Post.
Apparently there is one called Blue Mountain Trading Post (or something like that) in Blanding that according to my guidebook was owned by the same people, but I don’t know if that is still the case, and I’ve never been there.
I think it’s this one, and it was on the left side of the road as you drive north from Bluff. I think on the south side of the town. I only remember that, because as we were driving by I was thinking, oh there’s the other store, but my budget is spent
I can’t remember if you’re going to Moab, but this is the store where I got my earrings, and the owner spent a long time chatting with us. It was worth it just to go in and see all the rugs. https://www.lemaskokopelligallery.com/
Yes, it was started by Steve and Barry Simpson’s parents (as I recall). That was what prompted Steve and Barry to open TwinRocks. Haven’t been there for a while. Also, there is a wonderful park and museum, Edge of the Cedars, in Blanding. Not really a jewelry shopping venue, but wonderful to learn about NA history in the area.
Let us know what it’s like. My guidebook implied that Twin Rocks has more jewelry, and the other one has more baskets, rugs, etc., but of course that may have completely changed since the book was printed. However it did speak highly of both of them.
Hmmm… I may not want to know if it is a good store, cuz then I will wish I had stopped there
I just went on Reggie Mitchell’s instagram. Albuquerque is sponsoring The gathering of Nations today…largest dance gathering. He will be selling his wares along with many other artists. that would be fun to see all the festivities.
@here4turquoise Another winner!! Boy Howdy, I’m captivated by this new ring of yours. Did you choose that great Bisbee stone? Cheyenne Custer created a fabulous ring for you.
