Special Day with Cheyenne Custer

Today was a day I will never forget. Scott and I met Cheyenne Custer and her mom, Linda in Flagg. I was able to look at all she had for sale and purchased a few of them to take back to Virginia.

19” beads Ira and Linda Custer
Spirit Bear cuff Cheyenne Custer
Flower adjustable ring Cheyenne Custer
Starburst asymmetrical cuff Cheyenne Custer
Dragonfly asymmetrical cuff Ira Custer
Horse pendant Cheyenne Custer
Harvest Maiden pendant with #8 Cheyenne Custer

The horse pendant is very special to me as she made it per my request. I found an absolutely stunning belt Ira had made and asked Cheyenne if she could make a pendant for me based on her Dad’s belt photo. She finished it this morning as well as the Starburst cuff.
I cannot thank them enough for taking time out of their busy schedule to make the trip from Albuquerque.

I’m floored! Amazing! All of it is perfect. I believe I have seen his belt that you are referring to. What a great idea, and how special to have the pendant made; doing that honors his memory and her talent. It chokes me up a little bit! Her mother was with Cheyenne at last year’s Eiteljorg Market, and they were both so gracious, and clearly missed Ira. The year I met him there (his last year :disappointed_relieved:) I almost bought one of his dragonfly cuffs, so that may be my favorite of yours - but of course I’m crazy about all of them.

You will never forget the experience you had today, and when you wear any of those beautiful items, you will always think of when and where you were when you got them.

Now I want to shop your jewelry stash  And you still have lots of places to shop!

They truly miss Ira a lot. Cheyenne shared that she was beginning to work on the items that were unfinished on his bench.

Is this the bracelet you were considering?

If so, it is available. She had it with her and if it had fit I would have bought it. The bracelet has a heft to it but not too heavy. It was a collaboration between Cheyenne and Ira.

I also was able to see Ira and Robert Johnson’s necklace collaboration. It was stunning! You may have seen it in person as well.

Beautiful pieces, @here4turquoise. As @Ziacat mentioned, my family met Cheyenne and her mother at the Eiteljorg last year, as well. They were super friendly. Our daughter bought a cuff and pendant with Crow Springs turquoise from Cheyenne. A few weeks later, the hook on the pendant popped off. I emailed Cheyenne who responded promptly and asked me to ship it back. Pendant was returned in less than two weeks at no charge. I sent her some money anyway to cover return shipping and her time.

@here4turquoise What a glorious collection of Custer family jewelry!! Every single piece is a winner. I’m very drawn to your Starburst cuff and I LOVE your Harvest Maiden pendant. Sounds like you had a truly wonderful experience visiting with Cheyenne & Linda Custer. I hope you’ll enjoy these treasured memories & jewelry for years to come.

@TAH Thank you for sharing your experience with the Custers at Eiteljorg. Scott and I truly enjoyed our time with them. They took their time and told us about each piece despite the chilly weather during the setting sun.

Your daughter shares your eye for heirloom native jewelry. I have not heard of Crow Springs turquoise. Cheyenne’s set goes well with the Milford Calamity ring.
Your photo presentation of them is top notch.

Beautiful pieces, @here4turquoise. They’re made even more special by the wonderful memories they contain.

I really like the Harvest Maiden pendant, but it is all just lovely. Thank you for sharing! :+1:

No, but I saw that one at the Eiteljorg last year, and it’s beautiful. This is the one (or very close to it)…

I hadn’t seen the necklace, but I Googled it, and it’s amazing!

Great stuff! I really like the asymmetrical cuffs. You really need to take your eyes off the middle and look at those lovely beads. They look two toned. How were they made? Are they stamped?

I believe they have been oxidized. I’m seeing a lot of Navajo beads done like that now.

What a wonderful experience @here4turquoise! And your new pieces are exceptional! I keep focusing on this heavy wide cuff. I would have guessed it was by Ira…to my eye Cheyenne’s work is typically not this heavy (?). I’m always attracted to these wide heavy pieces, and the dragonfly motif on this one is so well done. And, this collaboration between Ira and Cheyenne is special! I rarely wear the several I have, but that doesn’t keep me from buying them😄

We need more than two arms I guess

You should.contact her! I am 6 5/8” in bracelets. This one too small for me. It needs to find a special home, like yours.

Thank you @Patina I was in a vintage shop in Jerome and Garlands today. Both places gave genuine compliments on the prices I wore today. But here’s what got me. Neither shop had heard of Ira or Cheyenne. :woman_shrugging:t2:

That wee horse is very special to me. Here I am wearing it on Ira and Linda’s 19” 10mmm beads. It most likely will become my daily.

@Ravenscry Thank you. I was hoping to meet Cheyenne at a vendors market but our schedules didn’t workout. She generously offered to meet me and bring her beauties. It was such an awesome experience.

I really enjoy reading about your entire collection. So glad you’re here.

That is one great cuff. That one would have caught my eye. We do need a few more arms. :+1:t3:

On a side note. I was at Garlands today and was going to by an Anthony Lovato but none of the were large enough. :pensive:

Well, that’s too bad! But at least you have found some other wonderful things. So weird that Garland’s never heard of the Custers. Maybe it was just the particular person working there.

@nanc9354 I normally would not buy an asymmetrical anything but these bracelets spoke to me.
As far as the beads go, I believe @Ziacat is correct in saying they oxidize them. I’m not sure how they are made. These are not stamped. What I can tell you is that I love the simplicity of them.
