I inherited this necklace from my mother. My father gave it to her in the early 1980’s after purchasing it from a member of the Ute tribe in the Duchesne Basin area. I’m wondering what you can tell me about it?

I’m so glad I found this forum as I’ve enjoyed seeing your jewelry and learning more.
My questions are:
- Your thoughts on authenticity? I think the leaves are beautiful, but don’t know if this was a kit. The hallmark Tt on the back looks like a marker, but actually has grooves on it. It also looks like something was rubbed off.
- If authentic, do you think this is a Navajo or Hopi artist?
- Value? My father said he paid around $300 in the early 80’s.
- Suggestions for an appraiser in Utah?

Welcome to the forum! I’m not super knowledgeable about squashes, but I would say this is Navajo. I had no luck with the hallmark. I also wondered about the leaves, because they seem pretty uniform. From what I have learned about this type of necklace, is that lots and lots of them were made in the 70’s -80’s.
I live in the Midwest so I am no help with finding an appraiser in UT.
