Stone Colour

Hello, My cuff is by McKee Platero. I’m wondering if the color variation is normal or is that “damage” (referring to area around upper right bezel)

I can’t say for sure but in my early silversmithing years I “burnt” a turquoise stone doing a repair with a heat sink and stone left in the ring. Found out it “toasted” the turquoise stone. Never tried that twice. Your stone has that same “toasted” look like it was partially heated around the edge. That being said, I’ve seen so much natural variation in turquoise blues / greens.

Hi Tara. Over-buffing a stone can leave this type of scorch on the surface. Usually happens when the finisher applies a bit too much pressure with too little compound on the wheel.

Don’t worry, nothing is going to take away from it being McKee Platero.
